Understanding Infinity: The Concept Beyond Science

Chapter 1: The Nature of Infinity
Infinity is a term that many grasp intuitively. It’s a straightforward concept for most people to comprehend. However, is it a term grounded in science? Surprisingly, it is not; there’s no scientific basis for the term "infinity."
To illustrate this, imagine you’re getting into your car, claiming you will drive endlessly into infinity. Five scientists observe you, and just as you prepare to depart, one of them hops in the vehicle with you. You set off, while the remaining four take notes from the sidewalk.
After ten minutes, the first scientist reaches a conclusion, followed shortly by the others. Based on your assertion of driving forever, they determine that the absence of new data is sufficient to end their inquiry. Since you are not anticipated to return, the absence of any evidence nullifies the concept of infinity at that moment.
The scientist in the car sends a few texts back, stating, “Still haven’t reached infinity.” That was the last communication received.
The scientists concluded their investigation of infinity with the following summary: “Infinity is merely a concept. The lack of further evidence during the test of its reality resulted in the termination of the experiment.” The four scientists on solid ground received no data after a few moments. The one inside the car was not on firm scientific footing from the outset. Since the vehicle was in motion, it lacked a stable base, and no additional information was gathered after several messages.
We haven’t heard from the driver or the scientist since then. It’s suspected they exited the car at a café (or bar) and chose to drive elsewhere, never to return to their starting point.
Infinity is mentioned in scientific discourse, yet its relevance is only recognized in the subtleties of human experience. We can encounter infinity and even utilize it effectively in virtual realms. Sometimes, virtual reality reveals aspects that may be obscured in our tangible world. Thus, we need not fear infinity itself. However, infinity in virtual settings does not equate to actual infinity, which lacks a scientific foundation.
The only truly infinite aspect of our universe is space. Nevertheless, space is static; it doesn’t interact with other entities and lacks defined boundaries. Space is a phenomenon that, while real, doesn’t possess its own characteristics. We can label space as a scientific entity, even as it remains merely a phenomenon. Its existence is undeniable.
Although the concept of infinity is quite simple to grasp, it is ultimately not real. It does not exist within the scientific framework of reality.
