Common Fear Foods Include:

  • Pasta, bread, potatoes, rice
  • Pizza, cheese, avocado, burgers
  • Fruits like bananas and grapes
  • Sweets, particularly cakes and ice cream
  • Complex recipes with various ingredients

Determining Your Relationship with Food

Figuring out if you have fear foods can be challenging. Here are some questions to reflect on:

  • Do you consciously avoid certain food groups?
  • Do you harbor negative feelings about specific foods?
  • How do you react when presented with these foods?
  • Are there strict rules you adhere to regarding food consumption?
  • Do you experience guilt or discomfort after eating certain items?

The Fear Foods I Faced During Hospitalization

For many, the fear stems from the belief that consuming certain foods will lead to uncontrollable weight gain. However, facing these fears has shown me that nothing detrimental occurs—physically or mentally—when I eat them.

Instead of harm, I found empowerment. Each challenge faced is a step closer to a life filled with happiness and freedom from the constraints of an eating disorder.
