Essential Programming Principles for Success in Coding

Chapter 1 Overview of Key Programming Principles
In over a decade of programming experience, I have identified several fundamental principles that have proven beneficial not only in coding but also in various life situations.
Divide and Conquer
Tackling a large problem can be daunting; therefore, it’s effective to decompose it into smaller, manageable segments. This approach enhances comprehension and simplifies resolution, serving as a crucial technique in algorithm development.
Reuse and Decoupling
Strive to create functions, classes, or code snippets that are generic and reusable. This not only streamlines your current project but also saves time on future tasks. Additionally, don’t hesitate to utilize existing code from others, as this can be a significant time-saver.
Code for Humans, Not Machines
Craft your code with clarity in mind; avoid writing code that you or others may struggle to understand later. Good programming is not about complexity; rather, it’s about creating comprehensible solutions.
Plan Before You Code
Always have a clear vision before you begin programming, regardless of the project’s size. Jumping into coding without a plan often leads to unnecessary revisions.
Keep It Simple
Simplicity is key—ensure that both you and others can easily grasp your work. Never underestimate the value of comments; they can illuminate your thought process for future reference.
Adopt MVC Architecture When Applicable
For moderately sized projects, consider employing the Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture. This organization of files can significantly ease the development process.
Leverage Existing Libraries
While it may be tempting to develop your own functions for complex calculations, using established libraries is often more efficient. Many libraries are crafted by experts, saving you valuable time.
While there are numerous additional principles, these seven stand out as critical for any programmer. The technical aspects of coding can be learned relatively easily, but mastering the "art" of programming is a more intricate journey.
