Books Awaiting My Attention: A Reading Wish List

Chapter 1: The Never-Ending Reading List
Do you find your list of books to read keeps growing? I certainly do. There are countless titles that pique my interest, and I’m excited to share several that I hope to dive into soon. These reflections stem from the "I Should Have Read That Book" tag. I’d love to hear which of these you’ve read and what’s on your reading radar!
Section 1.1: Recommendations from Friends
One title my boyfriend has urged me to explore is Contact by Carl Sagan. This science fiction novel revolves around scientists attempting to communicate with extraterrestrial beings and constructing a machine to traverse the cosmos. Given that science fiction is a beloved genre of mine, I can’t wait to get started on this one.
Section 1.2: Long-Standing Unread Titles
Another book that's been on my shelf for years is Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, the inaugural entry in a fantasy duology. The narrative follows a band of misfits as they undertake a perilous heist. I’ve heard so many positive reviews and even began reading it once, but life got in the way. It’s definitely time to revisit Six of Crows.
Chapter 2: Unfinished Series and Literary Aspirations
The first video titled "An Open Letter to the Writing Teacher Who Kept You from Writing for 10 Years" is a heartfelt reflection on overcoming creative barriers. It resonates with anyone who has faced challenges in their writing journey.
Section 2.1: Continuing Series
A few months back, I read American Royals by Katherine McGee, set in a world where the United States has a royal family. This book is filled with drama and romance, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Although I’ve only read the first book, I plan to borrow the sequels from the library, with Majesty being next on my list.
Section 2.2: Classics Yet to Explore
Despite studying literature in college, I still have a long list of classics to tackle. For instance, I wish to read more works by Jane Austen. After enjoying Sense and Sensibility, I’m keen to explore other novels like Emma and Pride and Prejudice.
Section 2.3: Popular Reads on My Radar
While I’m not always drawn to bestsellers, there are certain popular books I feel compelled to read. One such title is House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas. Known for its fusion of fantasy and romance, I’ve hesitated to start it due to its length (over 800 pages) and reports of a slow pace. However, I’m eager to read it sooner rather than later.
Section 2.4: Adaptations I Want to Read First
There are numerous books that have inspired film and TV adaptations that I haven’t yet read. One that stands out is Foundation by Isaac Asimov. This acclaimed science fiction novel has been adapted into a series on Apple TV+. I enjoyed the first episode but paused the show to read the book first.
Section 2.5: Beautiful Covers that Entice
A book that captivates me with its stunning cover is The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell. This fantasy series begins with a thief who can manipulate time, sent on a mission to steal a magician’s book to secure her world’s future. The cover's dark and atmospheric design perfectly aligns with the story's tone.
