Apple's Innovation Legacy: Beyond Steve Jobs and Current Trends

The Current Landscape of Apple
Apple has recently reported impressive results for the first quarter of 2022, showcasing its ongoing success.
Apple is achieving remarkable milestones, but questions about its future persist.
I’ve run out of ways to express Apple's record-setting quarterly outcomes; it seems they’re always breaking new ground.
For a deeper look, check out this Forbes article from 2015 that argued Apple was on the brink of collapse.

Back in 2015, critics were concerned about Apple’s stock being overvalued, citing declining smartphone prices and weak iPad sales, which had dropped by 18%. Even the Apple Watch was facing challenges. The main critique was that Apple had lost its innovative edge with the passing of Steve Jobs.
Fast forward to 2022, and Apple has achieved a staggering revenue of $124 billion, although it has expressed that supply chain issues could have resulted in even greater profits. The company boasts an installed base of 1.8 billion devices and 785 million paid subscriptions—a significant achievement, even accounting for its share of app subscriptions.
It seems that many of the "doom prophecies" surrounding Apple were fueled by a general disdain for the company; critics were eager to find evidence that Apple's strategies were flawed.
Is Apple Truly Doomed?
To say that Apple is eternal would be a stretch. There will eventually come a time when someone accurately predicts its decline, but that day is not today.
My View on Apple's Perfection
I have often critiqued some of Apple's unconventional decisions. There is definitely room for improvement, and at times, they can be overly self-assured.
Reflecting on my past as a Microsoft enthusiast (pre-Windows Vista), I was captivated by how technology functioned, often spending excessive time troubleshooting. In contrast, Apple’s products enable me to concentrate on their practical applications rather than the technology itself, all while presenting them with a touch of elegance.

The Seven Laws of Learning: Why Great Leaders Are Also Great Teachers
Richard L. Godfrey, Gerreld L. Pulsipher, Hyrum W. Smith
I recently embarked on reading "The Seven Laws of Learning" to revitalize my reading habits. The premise that there might be a structured approach to mastering new subjects intrigued me.
However, the book doesn’t focus on a straightforward learning process; instead, it emphasizes the significance of leadership in education.
Despite my initial expectations, the book is filled with valuable insights, though some may seem rather obvious. The authors stress that everyone learns in their own way, and storytelling plays a crucial role in the learning process.
While there is truth in this, it can sometimes feel excessive. On one occasion, during a technical course, students urged the instructor to get to the point, highlighting the diversity in learning preferences.
The most significant takeaway for me was that learning encompasses both emotional and intellectual dimensions. I recall struggling with vector math until I grasped its practical applications.
What I'm Focused On Now
It's Time to Stop Faith-Shaming People
Growing up in a Christian environment in Northern Ireland shaped my perspective on religion. As I delved deeper into science, my beliefs were challenged, leading me to reassess my understanding of the universe.
My younger self would be astonished at my current scientific viewpoint, often praying for me. Yet, even in 2022, I am taken aback by the vehement criticisms directed at people of faith by some scientists and atheists.
I feel compelled to express my thoughts on this matter…
